Overview

Graphic design work inspired by the tactile charm of risograph printing. After a studio tour with artist Kate Bingaman-Burt, I was captivated by the bold, layered textures and imperfect aesthetic of riso art, which influenced my approach to recreating its distinct look digitally. The design incorporates overlapping gradients and vivid colors like pinks, oranges, blues, and purples, evoking the playful feel of risograph prints.

Risograph printing is a printmaking method known for its vibrant colors, layered textures, and imperfect charm. Developed in the 1980s, it uses soy-based inks and a stencil process to print one color at a time, creating unique overlaps and slight misalignments. Often compared to screen printing, it’s eco-friendly, cost-effective, and widely loved by artists for its bold, retro aesthetic.
